I was cracking up as I read about Jennifer Love Hewitt. She tried the grapefruit diet pill and apple cider vinegar since she heard it was good for belly fat. Shocking, she saw no results. I wish there was a quick fix, but there just isn’t. BUT there is a super quick workout that burns the same amount of calories as 60 minutes on a treadmill!
I was beat red in the face this afternoon as I did my workout. My feet felt like bricks, which I attribute to eating fried grouper last night and enjoying my 32 oz Mr. Pibb with crushed ice in place of a snack this afternoon. I guess it could also be the non-application of sunscreen or the stressful morning of shopping while Taylor did NOT want to shop. Anyhoo, totally off subject.
Working out and eating well (not perfect) is the only way to go. Here is my super quick workout with super calorie-burning results!
1) Hill Run – I’m not talking a simple hill, but one with a steady incline that looks like it’s going to be easy until you are 3 hills into it! This hill run was about 190 strides up and 190 down, attempting to sprint on the way up.
2) 60 Switch Lunges
3) Hill Run
4) 60 Straight Leg Reverse Lunges
5) Hill Run
6) 60 Switch Lunges
7) Hill Run
8) 50 Push-Ups
9) Hill Run
10) 50 Dips
11) Hill Run
12) 60 Boomerangs (like in my Shed 5 Fast DVD)
13) Hill Run
14) 120 Plank Runners (you all know I love these since they melt the fat and kill the core!)
15) PostNatal Boot Camp 3 Minute Core workout Pilates #2
Do not fret! A workout similar to this will be available on my workout downloads for those of you who don’t like the written workouts. The downloads are $5 and will be available starting in September!
My plan was to do this workout T, TH, S this week and kickboxing or HIIT Cardio W, F. So far so good.

I love these workouts! They're great compliments to your videos (all of which I have).
Does 15 minutes of the high intensity workouts equal 30 minutes of the interval training or is the calorie expenditure the same?
Also, is there a special way to run to avoid bulky muscles?
Thanks again for posting the workouts. I'm looking forward to the downloads.
Thanks for sharing Lindsay! I really appreciate your honesty. It is nice to know that you enjoy the occasional fried food and cola too! I've been doing good on my workouts, but I know if I'd do better on my nutrition I would hit my goal as well :) Thanks for posting the interval workout and looking forward to the downloads!
Blessings!
It's so true Leigh Anne! I am sure when I weigh myself tomorrow I won't be at my goal weight! And it probably has everything to do with the extra calories!
P.S. I love my Mr. Pibb, just try to limit it to a few times a week!
15 minutes of HIIT is very close to 15 minutes of the interval workouts on my Boot Camp DVDs.
As for running to avoid bulky muscles, you want to make sure you hit the ground with your heel first. And it's always good to run on atreadmill in front of a mirror to make sure your arms slide to your sides - not hunched up by your chest or crossing your chest.
More than likely your muscles will not bulk unless you are training 5-6 days a week, really hard each day. Hope that helps!
I really appreciate and thoroughly enjoy these outdoor workouts for summer. I have shared them with a LOT of people or asked them to join me as I do them.
With this last Hill workout, if you don't want to do all 50 push-ups in one shot, can you break them into sets of 25 and add a hill run? Does this change the overall affect/benefits of the workout?
Bethany, it's a wonderful idea! 50 push-ups is killer. I'd say do 2 sets of 25 with a 60 second rest in between so you work the muscular endurance a bit. Then the following week cut the rest to 50 seconds etc.
And I will totally admit my push-ups get rather sloppy after 40 so I take a few second breathers in between!
Hi Lindsay! I have been doing bootcamp 2 recently and starting to do the new core internal firing method and already at 3 weeks am noticing a big difference in my mommy belly. My daughter (6) does these workout with me and loves putting on her "Lindsay Brin" headband! Thank you for motivating me! We love your workouts and I keep telling my friends looking for a new DVD to check out yours.
Thanks-- Kristy Tiernan
