  2. Hi Lindsay, Did you ever do workout DVDs while playing with your kids? I'm trying to find time to include a workout DVD while playing with my 17 month old daughter. Any suggestions would be great!
You look fabulous and are my motivation! Thank you!

  3. lindsay you are such an inspiration and definitely my encouragement that I will get back into my jeans after I have baby#2 (3.5 weeks to go.
Your honesty is truly motivating me to get off my butt and put in a few minutes of exercise whenever I feel like it and even when I don't!

  6. I'm curious too...#4...was that just forward thinking or is it already happening??? I love your blog and your workouts because they make me feel normal because you are a normal mom who has normal problems. Some celebrity videos just make us "normals" feel bad. Thanks for all the tips.

  7. I want to know where you got that adorable skirt???

  8. The skirt is Lululemon and super comfy. I was just at Sports Authority and they had some cute Nike ones too!

#4, distant future! Going for 5!

DVDs while playing with my kids...all the time! It's usually the only way I can get it done! I think somebody mentioned last week they set up a table with playdoh and Mr Potato Head right where they were working out, and the kids were entertained for the 40 minutes. My kids will either workout with me (with their aqua weights, huge weights that don't weigh anything) or I do my workouts on my computer/tablet while they watch a show:)

  9. Hi Lindsay...I just purchased your Bootcamp 2 and CFD videos and I'm excited to start! I've had 2 kids (the youngest is almost 3) and although I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight, I still have the belly bulge. My Obgyn glanced at it during my last visit and said only surgery will fix it. I'm curious what you think of her statement. Do you believe exercise can get help everyone with their belly bulge or will some people require surgery? It was disheartening to hear her say that, but i want to be realistic too Thanks!!

  10. You look great! I commend you for trying a photo shoot with all three children!

As for low carb, I think it's a good idea for people who have metabolic syndrome or insulin insensitivity. Making the switch from burning glucose to burning ketones is kind of a bear (headaches, irritability), and really only makes sense if someone has plenty of fatty acids locked up in their fat cells to burn once the insulin goes down - not really your problem, I don't think! For me, though, it's what brought me back to my pre-pregnancy weight in a reasonable period of time. My dad has always been overweight and I got pregnant later in life (in my 30s), so I think my cells became insulin resistant with the weight gain in pregnancy. I had to cut out sugar and almost all starch, but fruit and vegetables seem to be fine.

I used to be vegetarian, now I am not. It took a long time - several months - before breakfast seemed like breakfast with no oatmeal, and lunch seemed like lunch without bread, or dinner seemed like dinner without spaghetti or something. I probably eat more fruits and vegetables now as a carnivore than I did as a vegetarian.

You are still young; your body obviously does fine with carbohydrates, so no worries, why bother with low carb? If at age 40 you find yourself gaining weight for NO REASON, then maybe you'd want to consider cutting down on sugar and starch rather than eating in moderation.

Also, THANK YOU for all the work you do; I bought two of your videos, Core Fitness and the CFS method. We got really busy in January and then we all caught horrible colds, so I got out of exercising for several weeks, but now we're back at it. My second daughter who is now one year likes to sit on me or pull my hair while I am doing your videos, but that's ok - we make it work anyway.

    Again, thanks.

  11. Yep, at age 40 the metabolism slows by about 100 calories a day, and after menopause we will all lose the bonus 200-300 calorie burn after ovulation. Yikes.

Glad you are back at it, hate that your 1 year old grabs your hair during the workouts:( My baby does that too!

Keep that metabolism revved with the toning!

  12. Anonymous, that is disheartening! Your OB obviously has more insight on your specific case, but I will be brutally honest with you. You Can! How quickly depends on yoru case.

Do you have diastasis recti or a hernia? We can usally correct the DR with CFS Phase 1 and Boot Camp 2 Core Workout 1...just stay consistent 3x/week every other day and do not move forward until you ahve mastered those workouts.

Severe hernias do require surgery. Give me a little mor einfo and I will see if I can help!

    1. I know this is a bit off topic but I'm having to substitute formula with my little girl who is 6 weeks. I was wondering since you're health conscious, do you prefer milk or soy based formulas, and did you see a difference between any of your children compared to how long they breastfed/bottlefed?

    2. You know, I asked my pediatrician about it and he prefered milk based. Something about soy and them being so young, he was a not a fan.

And I think Harper, #3, who only got a few weeks of breastmilk is a little heavier than my other kids. But that's really thew only differnce...and could be because I popped a bottle in her mouth whenever there was chaos with the other 2:)

  13. Lindsay,
Thank you so much for all your resources. I have been doing the diastasis core exercises for two weeks and just started following your nutrition recommendations this week. My youngest is 4 1/2 years old and I have a little over a two finger gap. I also have about 15-20 pounds of excess fat that I would like to replace with muscle. I haven't exercised regularly since I got pregnant with my first and then it was three kids in four years. So it's been eight years and I have no muscle tone. I can't do cardio because of a heart condition- I have to keep my heart rate in the 80-90 bpm range. I am walking 2 miles a day (with the kids so they regulate my speed and keep me within the approved threshold). I am doing your core exercises and using hand weights to target specific muscle groups in my arms and legs. Like I said, I just cut back on my eating- I realized I never really adjusted my portion sizes after being pregnant and nursing.
Is there hope? Can I heal my diastasis even though I can't even do all the diastasis exercises successfully? (I don't have the core strength to lift both of my legs off the ground at the same time.) Can I lose the extra pounds and gain muscle without getting my heart rate up?
I had read books about diastasis and tried exercises before, but your YouTube videos were the first I had ever tried that made sense and that I can actually feel the muscles working when I do them correctly. I have loved finding those again so I can choose to engage them for coughing, sneezing, and other every day things.
I'd love any advice or encouragement you have to give!
    Thank you!
    Chelsea

  14. Chelsea, yes there is hope! And your roadmap to success is exactly what you are doing. Keep your portions under control and doing toning. And don't worry that your legs cannot come off the ground together, DR is going to prevent that from happening. And make sure you switch up the toning exercises to keep your muscles changing!

  15. Thank you! I am six weeks in and so encouraged! I have been following the steps I outlined above. Six months ago I had a three finger gap in my upper and lower abs. I did your exercises a little but then dropped off through the holidays. But now, after just 6 weeks of consistency my upper abs have a two finger gap and my lower abs only a one finger gap! I have lost five inches off my waist and 11.5 pounds through diet and exercise! I am feeling strong and healthy. I am going to keep it up because the results are worth it! Next step, carving out some muscles!! Thank you for sharing such great resources.

  17. Hi Lindsay

I am a mommy of 3: 1 8-year old, 1 30mos. old and 1 13 mos. old, with my last 2 pregnancies being so close I didnt work out at all and my belly hasnt been the same ever since. I now know I have diastasis and though I am back to my old weight and jeans (yaaay) cant say the same about my abs... they just dont exist! Now with you CFS I see the light, though I cannot buy the download on amazon due to international rights or something like that (I live in Spain)... can you give me an idea on how I'd be able to buy the download without having to wait too long... I am working out, but not really my abs... I need your help!!
    Thanks a lot!

  18. Angie, hi! Glad you can see the light:) We have the CFS download on our website www.momsintofitness.com/dvds/downloads. You can buy it by itself or pair it with Boot Camp and a 3 phase calendar, both are $9.99 (the 2-pack with CFS or CFS alone). Hope that helps!
