My Food Journal
This is about an average week at my house, except I usually limit eating out/fast food to max 3x/week - and I hit the max in 4 days this week! It always seems to be something - sick kids, crazy work, making meals for others (and not having enough groceries to make some meals for our home) and picky eaters.
I had a late night snack one night - a Valentine Chocolate Marshmallow heart:) I used to prefer salt over sweet but ever since Harper I love some sugar!
1) I need more veggies on certain days. I usually try to eat 1-2 servings of veggies before eating a meal.
2) I try to go for Kids Meals when going through the drive thru. Oh how I wish there were more drive thru's to choose from! Who wants to get out of the car with 3 kids on a winter day?
3) I could use a little more good fats. Although I eat a lot of cheese for snacks so I get some dairy fat there.

This is a cool way to do a food journal! I think I would definitely eat less if I had to take a pic of it every time :) Day 1 2nd item the way the fork and the lettuce is makes it look like the plate is broken :) Had to do a double take on that one :) Good job! Pretty cool
Cool! One question: are you breastfeeding? Is this a good diet for breastfeeding moms? Thanks! L.
Awesome! Thanks for posting this! It's a great sample of what to go by for portions.
Is that seriously all you eat? Lol it does not look like enough food for a day.
I can't decide if it's lazy food journaling or technology at its best:)
No breastfeeding diet here...not enough calories and protein!
I have some breastfeeding guidelines if you go to www.momsintofitness.com > click get the skinny > breastfeeding.
It's about 1600-1900 calories on most days. Which is a good amount for 5'1". I didn't include my Fat Sunday:)
Is that really 1600-1900 cals a day? That seems like such a small amount of food. Gosh, no wonder my weight is not changing - lol
My breakfast was 1 slice ezekiel, 1 jumbo egg, and 2T salsa
Lunch was a chicken burrito from Trader Joes dinner will be salad and a tuna melt on wheat.
and that's a small food day for me.
Maybe I'll take a pic of my food and post. This really seems like such a small amount of food.
This seems like a small amount of food to me too! I am the same height and I eat way more than this. Maybe that is why I don't look like you! This can't be 1600 calories. Looks more like 1100-1200 to me. At least by my math.
Either way you look amazing so Congrats!
Wait....is this the only thing you ate each day???? It's like an apple, a slice of cheese, and like some corn, lol.
Here's my food journal:
Breakfast-(a must for me, I never miss it) Bagel with yogurt OR Hotdogs OR Eggs w/turkey bacon.
Lunch- A piece of Fruit and a full meal.
Dinner- Ceral or a mini dinner meaning any food that was left over from lunch
Oh and during the day I am constantly snacking on something.
It might seem like alot of food but I really try to eat healthy and in "normal portions".
I am 5'2 and 115 lbs. My weight is healthy. I don't know but when looking at these pics it just looks like a little bit of food. Can anyone else relate to what I am saying?
Linday,
I am feeling like mixing up my DVDs each week to be able to just pick whichever I'm in the mood for for the day. I have your DVDs, and many others. Some are HIIT, some are circuit training (like weights with bursts of cardio), some are strenghth. I know you say to alternate cardio and strenghth days, but I think I've heard that you should limit the amount of days you do HIIT or Tabata. And I am assuming a HIIT day would take the place of a cardio day. Can you tell me what a generic week would look like, so I could just pick a DVD that falls under that category for the week?
Oh, I am in weight loss mode.
Kelly, hey! So are your HIIT workouts all cardio or both toning and cardio?
Its the darn take out food...chik fil a is about 700 calories and taco bell too. So by the time I eat about 500 or 600 calorie dinner, 200 calorie breakfast, a soda pop and a snack I am between 1500 & 1900 calories.
LIndsay I was wondering if you have any good low back strength exercises for pregnancy. All the ones I know require being on your belly and my low back is in need of some strength!!
Well, I would usually do HIIT on the treadmill by myself, but my 14 year old daughter expressed interest in working out with me. I have been shying away from cardio, because I trained for a half marathon and didn't lose a pound. So I am finally taking a closer look at what I eat and rethinking my workouts. We will also be doing a lot of traveling. I have your workouts exept for the dance one, some Jillian, Turbo Fire (which I think has some cardio HIIT & some toning HIIT???), Tae Bo, Laurn Brooks kettlebell (she has a workout on there that's HIIT, I think it would be considered toning), & Amy Dixon Give Me 10 (toning?). For fat loss I was considering getting her Breathless which is like 40 minutes of Tabatas. Does that make sense to do 40 minutes of Tabatas? I thought the point of Tabatas was to do intense intervals for a short period of time. Also, Michelle Dibois has toning HIIT DVDs AND cardio HIIT DVDs that I was looking at. I just want to be able to say, "it's Monday, I should do HIIT cardio today" and pick a DVD. Just a skeleton schedule that would include the components to lose weight. We will be traveling a lot, but would like to participate in the Fit Fridays when we can. Would Fit Friday be toning? Thanks for taking the time to help me with this.
I wish Zone bars had better ingredients! And I totally have to do a more "volume" way of eating than you. I would be starving if I ate a kids meal! So I need to pad my eating with a lot of fruits and veg. It is really interesting for me to see what other people eat.
Looks like you have 3 Kelli's in your comments!
Ha, 3 Kellis!
I am so glad your daughter wants to participate, start her off a little easier so she stays motivated.
And you are not the only person who doens't lose weight training for runs! They are great for endurance, but not for weight loss unless you add cross training. Same thing happened to me.
Ok so here is what you should do:
M: HIIT Toning
T: HIIT Cardio
W: HIIT Toning
R: Rest
F: Fit Friday
S: HIIT Cardio 1 week, Toning the next
S: Rest
Kelly, the best low back for pregnancy is on all 4's. Balance and lift 1 arm/opposite leg to hip height. Lift and lower 15-20 times.
Where can I buy your HIIT Cardio?? I love your HIIT toning, I'm eager for more!
thanks
