Do you Tally Mark?

Ok so as much as I love vacations with the kids, I also love vacations without them.  I can only count 2 vacations without kids in the last 4 years, but I think that's pretty good considering I was pregnant 3 out of those 4 years.

We got to go to my in-laws in Naples for 7 days after our filming a few weeks ago, and it was bliss.  We did nothing except beach, movie, dinner, repeat.

But I am secretly keeping tally marks for an afternoon to myself so I can remember just how relaxed I was just a few short weeks ago (seen above).  No, we don't tally mark - ya know - I put the kids to bed so you can get up with them.  We usually do our fair share.  But lately I think my hubby forgot and is still in vacation mode.  So the tally marks are adding up between his volleyball and my getting up 1-2x/night.

Just one more week and I will be well on my way to an afternoon of running errands by MYSELF!  Maybe even a movie?  Maybe even a Sunday morning where I get myself ready and the hubby gets everybody else ready for church?

  1. Lindsay,

I do in my head. My husband went on a fishing trip 2 weekends ago, so I have a bunch in the bank...I guess I better let him know I will be cashing those in soon. :) I have been home this year, but I go back to teaching in August, so the scales will hopefully balance out then. We'll see. On another note, you look awesome! I have reached my pre-preg. weight, and I am now excited about really kicking up my workout. I have started to ween (sp?) A., so I am ready to go...as soon as we get below 100 degrees heare in Cincy!

  2. I'm the worst tally marker EVER!!! I play dirty too... I go so far as bringing up old stuff... hahahaha hubby hates it, but I do WAY more with the kids than he does... so I feel entitled ;)

  3. I don't think we'd be women if we didn't have at least a secret tally in our heads at all times. Our memories are attached to emotions so when we feel an emotion a bunch of memories come flooding into our minds as well. That's why we bring up the past...it's not our fault really! :) I keep a tally, but I rarely, if ever, cash them in. What's wrong with me???

  4. Anonymous, I WISH I didn't cash in on mine... I just get so annoyed when he's relaxed playing video games and I'm a chicken without a head...

  5. Vanessa, I think it's healthy to keep men on their toes to remind them that as much as we like to think we're super woman/mom...sometimes we're human too. I need to let my husband know that if I get away more I'm a healthier happier wife and mom. :)

  6. Lindsay, here's my big question! I had my little girl 8 weeks ago. I still have 15 pounds to lose and have tried for the last month to start losing it, but I can't get a single pound to come off. I am watching my nutrition quite strictly, and exercising 5-6 a week. I am nursing her full time, so I'm wondering if my body is holding on to the weight for that, or if I am just destined to keep this on me? I am so sad and frustrated!!! Suggestions?

  7. Oh the tally marks! I racked some more up last night out-to-dinner. While I barely ate, my husband enjoyed his entire dinner without getting up one time. I was up at least 20 times between dropped toys, hungry baby, 2 year old out of control etc...

Ok, anonymous, you might not like what I am going to say...but your baby is 8 weeks old! Your body just got back to "normal" 2 weeks ago so all of your tissues are normal again. It sounds like you could be overdoing it. Scale back 5x/week and make sure you are consuming enough fat and protein...

Keep in mind your body will hold onto fat to feed that baby, especially if you were small to begin with. I would imagine in another month or two you will be close to where you want to be:)
