    1. Do you have a hernia? Or Diastasis Recti?

Pretty Fierce Weight Loss has Core workouts for the diastasis, so it might be right up your alley!

  3. I would like to get one of your new workouts....
How long are the workouts on the videos?
I don't have any weight to lose but would like my abs and butt to be tight.
I do have diasasis recti (sorry about the spelling)
Which fierce workout would you recommend?
Also is there anything that can help with breasts that have shrunk after having children?
    Thanks a bunch!

    1. The videos range form 12-55 min, depending on which program. In Lean Out 2 of the workouts are longer - 46 and 55 min. But most of the time we stick to 30 min or less with new trainings like Tabata and HIIT.

I think Lean Out is what you are looking for BUT Lean Out does not modify for diastasis recti. How severs is your diastasis? We may be able to put you on a recovery plan and pull it together before starting the Lean Out program.

    2. Thanks so much for your reply. 30 minutes is great when there are little ones begging for something.

There is a gap of about 1 and 1/4" on the diastasis.

  4. Just starting the Pretty Fierce Lean Out program. Just wondering...how many pair of workout shoes do you own?!! Every video is a new pair and a cute workout outfit. Makes me want to shop! I hope I can walk after doing these workouts! Even if I can't, I'll look better in a swimsuit laying around the pool (in my dreams...toddlers don't let you lie down at the pool). Maybe juggling all three kids will be easier though.

  5. Business Perks! The shoes - filming is the best excuse to buy new shoes. We are on set for a long time so I always tell myself I need a clean/dry pair for each shot:) And I always can talk myself into any workout piece even if I don't need it.

I like your dream...lying at the pool!

  6. I ordered the Pretty Fierce weight loss dvds on Saturday and I just finished the Cardio Plyometrics workout (1 of the 3 emailed). It was tough - tough, but good. I noticed on the calendar that the Plyometrics are followed by a Core A workout. Would you suggest using one of your other dvds to fill in until the other dvds arrive? I have the CFS, PNBC & Core Metabolic Jumpstart dvds.

    Thanks!

I also have say that, like the previous poster, I feel the need for some new shoes now :)

  9. Hi Lindsay,

I purchased the Pretty Fierce Lean Out program on the 7th. Since then I have been using the free trial dvds whilst i eagerly await my DVD pack. I have tried the upper body, core and the total body endurance trials. WOW- my muscles are really forming. I struggle with the ladder workouts- I am doing 8 out of the ten repetitions. But i am hanging in there because i can visualise a slimmer me at the end of 60 days. I have tried so hard over the last few years to loose the final 10 pounds but i have not succeeded. You push me to excel. I did the V02 run test and ran the whole 1.5 miles- because i felt you were there behind me. I am enjoying this healthy lifestyle. I also feel like i am working out with my best friends. Thank you so much!!!!

  10. Sandra, that is just fantastic! I LOVE that the program is pushing you. It pushed me to the limits as I geared up for filming:)

  11. LOVE this core workout! ;) Love your shoes too (can you believe 3 out of 14 comments are about your shoes!?)
I felt my abs were firmer after one night(did it twice because it was fun) ;) Signed up for the weightloss Fierce trial, but haven't started yet.
    Have a great week!

  13. I've done both workouts and I think I prefer the lean out one better, but I do have diastasis pretty bad... My mom gave me a $100 amazon gift card so I'm thinking of getting one of them. What equipment do we need for each?

  14. (Oh and my diastasis is about 3 fingers width)

  15. Aslaug, what a good point, it's all about the shoes:)

  16. Ashley, I did not recall you having Diastasis after the other babies. Is my brain foggy?

Tough call with Lean Out and Diastasis. I know your body needs the extra umph from Lean Out having been with MIF for years. Here is the thing - Lean Out puts you in a lot of plank positions and positions where your core integrity is totally challenged. Heal that Diastasis:) See how many fingers you have in 2 weeks and let me know!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, the downloads will be available with the launch of our Apps at the end of this month. There will be options of buying single workouts too!

  18. Hi there - I would loooove to purchase the pretty fierce weight loss set, however I have a 9 finger diastasis that is not rehabable (been diagnosed by experts - only option is surgery). However I'm not there yet because I'd still like to have another baby and would love to shake the rest of this post-baby weight from my last (1 year ago). Can I safely do most of the weight loss program? I wear the Tuppler brace and do her exercises anyways to make sure my TAs stay strong.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Poor thing, surgery repair. But I totally get you want to get rid of some weight and then have another baby!

And yes, I think this program will be perfect for you. You will just need to stick with Core A and follow all Diastasis modifications. If Core A causes you any pain at all you may need to eliminate some of it, or all together. And during the push-ups you may need to modify. Otherwise we do not do anything "DR unfriendly" in the Wt Loss Pretty Fierce Series.

    1. Congrats on the baby! I think this program will work for you, just know when to say when if it's too much! Workouts range from 20-40 minutes, most days we ask you to do under 30 minutes.

  20. I'm not sure which one is better for me. My youngest child is 2 1/2 and I'd really like to tone and tighten my body (abs and butt), plus I wouldn't mind losing 10 pounds. Can you help me decide which program would be better?

    ReplyDelete

    1. If you have been working out consistently I would recommend Lean Out. But if you workout here and there, maybe 2-3x/week you shoudl start with Weight Loss. Then maybe move to Lean Out after 60 days of the first program. You can also do the Free Trials and decide from there!

  21. Hi Lindsay! I'm 11 weeks post partum and am eager to get back into shape. I've been back into exercising for a few weeks and am feeling better every day. I was wondering if I really need to wait until 10 months pp or if there is criteria that I need to meet before starting the Lean Out series? I was active before pregnancy and have recovered fairly quickly weight wise. However I'm really wanting to get my butt kicked in the strength and toning department. :)

    1. Lianne, I totally get that! At 6 weeks your body is "normal" again, but it usually takes until 6 months until cardiovascular and muscular strength are back to where they were. With that said you know your body better than anybody! And if you feel ready, your doc says ok, then go for it. Just know when to say when and take it easy, doing a lot of modifications. I know if I did these full workouts 11 weeks pp I would have made it halfway through and fallen over:) So go easy on yourself and your goals, ok?

  22. I am wondering what you do for snacks! I always want everything to serve a purpose if I am going to eat it, so I want my snacks to be healthy. Ideas? And my second question is: how do you feel about peanut butter? One second I hear it's terrible and the next that it's a good source of protein. What do you think, and what brand of PB do you use? Oh, and another question: how do you feel about cheese? Full of fat or good for calcium and protein? Help!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good questions! I wish I had your mentality! I eat for pleasure over purpose sometimes!

Peanut Butter, just fine. If you are worried about it you can go for less sugar or Nutella.
Cheese, full fat, just fine. As you said great sources of protein and calcium. You cannot, nor should you remove, all fats form yoru diet. And cheese kind of has a dual purpose.

My snacks: cheese and crackers, apples and peanut butter, fruit, salads, veggies and dip (not always the good for you dip but whatever sounds good). I hope this helps!

  23. Doing lean out, and loving it so far. Never bored and always challenged. I have been trying my best to follow the two week meal plan. I was wondering if after two weeks I have to eliminate most carbs after 4 or if I should just focus more on calories and the dos and don'ts at that point?

  25. Just started the lean out program Monday and I'm so sore! It was hard (and I was doing some intense workouts with a trainer before I started.) switching it up was good for me! I'm nursing so the food control is hard for me! Have about 8 lbs to pre- weight of baby number one but would like to drop my body fat percentage. Any tips?

  27. Sorry for another question, but I've heard you talk about "weight loss mode" vs "maintenance" mode. What's the difference as far as nutrition goes? Obviously you exercise more in "weight loss" mode, but is your nutrition any different?

    1. Your nutrition is the make/break it part in weight loss mode. So yes, that is where the difference lies!

  28. Hi there! I just purchased your program Pretty Fierce Lean Out. I would love to private message you regarding some questions I have on my goal weight (sent to me when I purchased the program) and also how to modify the program to my fitness level. Is that possible? They are questions I don't feel comfortable putting here if that makes sense. :)

    1. I was thinking about this over the weekend and no real reason I can't post here but if you would rather message me you can at jess.butler@gmail.com. The goal weight you sent me was 110. I am 5'3" and I have competed in Figure in the past - the lowest I ever got to was 117lbs. IMHO, 110lbs would be too skinny - is it possible there was a miscalculation? Also, I currently workout regularly with programs like Cathe Freidrich, Insanity and other high intensity programs. On your schedule, I felt like it was lighter than what I would normally do. I eat similar to your recommends currently so just curious if you would recommending a different schedule? Thanks much!

      Delete
    2. Sure, you can always hit the envelope icon at the top of the page to message us!

For your target weight, we use a calculation with a BMI of 19.5. Normal BMI is 18.5-24.9. As you can see we use a BMI on the lower end. And it is just a calculation, it does not take in muscle vs. fat etc. You know your body best!

Lean Out is a high intensity program. Do you feel the recovery week is where the schedule differs? We use methods in which your heart rate is high even while you are doing arm strength i.e. push-up jacks. That way moms can squeeze it into their day. Do you feel the time on the schedule is less? If so it is because of our workout method combining intense strength with cardio. Let us know how the first week goes!

  33. Hi Lindsay,
After doing P90X for a year I finally found out that the reason my stomach still looks like I'm 5 months pregnant is because of Diastasis Recti. I had never even heard of it til a couple days ago! What's even worse is that for a year I was doing every ab exercise that you're NOT supposed to do if you have it! I'm so frustrated I could scream! I've been on the internet for 2 days now trying to find some information and advice that I feel like I can trust. I came upon your website and have been looking at your DVD's. I still plan on continuing P90X except for the Ab workout until I can heal my diastasis, so as far as a program that I can do to fix this, what do you suggest? Would any of your DVD's be able to help me in this area? Thanks so much! I hope you can help me!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ah man, I hear your frustration! But I am so glad you have it figured out! I love P90x and the results, although I ahve never done them myself I have done Tony' Horton's classes and I love him.

There are several positions you shoudl not do: twisting, planks, quadruped, isometric, in addition to the traditional ab exercises in the abs video. So make sure you are very cautious about that.

Try the Diastasis Friendly Core Workout in our Pretty Fierce: Weight Loss Free Trial. Pretty Fierce Wieght Loss is for you if you like it. It is totally DR friendly! 35. I remember reading somewhere on your blog...or the website (one of those sleepless baby nights) so I don't really remember where it was, but you had posted how many calories could be burned with your specific videos (boot camp, etc). Do you know where I could find that info again? Also, have you done that calculation for pretty fierce yet? Thank you in advance!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The average for Pretty Fierce is 450, closer to 350-400 if you are under 140 lbs.

Boot Camp is 300 for 30 min. Hope that helps!

      Delete
    2. Thank you for your quick reply! Ive been doing Boot Camp for 2 weeks and am already seeing results. It looks like Pretty Fierce is a way to switch things up & maybe take them up a notch...Ive really enjoyed looking through the material on your blog & website. You seem to be very authentic and passionate about what you do! Thanks for that motivation and encouragement--I think it really makes a difference!

    3. It would be great to know how many calories burned per Pretty Fierce Lean Out video rather than an overall average. I know it varies by each person's size but it would help to have a more specific answer. For example, doing Aerobic Capacity 26 minutes can't burn as many as if you go for the whole 46, but it would help to know the difference for those of us tracking for weight loss. Thank you!

      Delete
    4. Lauren Marie, you are so right! And yes many factors go into it (age, weight, height, heart rate, etc.) So for 26 min the estimate is 300 for a 130 lb woman. Does that help?

Also, remember that your body does not work on a 24 hour clock. So estimates are ok, you will find a good balance for your body.

  36. Hi, I have a 1 year old baby boy, and I worked out throughout the entire pregnancy and was back to my pre-pregnancy clothes within 1 week. I am an avid runner and mix in weight lifting and Insanity workouts. I'm not looking to lose any weight, currently I'm 5' 7" and 125lbs, but with all of my running and the Insanity workouts, I feel like my thighs sometimes look a bit bulky. I've read reviews that say your two Pretty Fierce programs are similar in intensity to the Insanity program -- which would you recommend if I'm looking to try find another option to mix into my routine (keeping up with my current fitness level) while staying away from getting any more muscle bulk?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Pretty Fierce Lean Out would be perfect for you! It incorporates running, as well as offering schedules for 10k and half marathons. That way you can adjust the workouts to include your running, and hopefully not cause any bulk. We space out the plyometrics and leg workouts with these calendars so you stay long and lean. I too have issues with bulking when I do too much running and weight lifting.

P.S. So jealous you were at your pre-prego weight at 1 week PP!

Hello, when you get a chance please help. I dont know where to start. I cannot workout like I used to so I'm quite confused and would say I need a beginner routine. I had my second baby 14 months ago but my core is very weak. I can't really even do 6 inches exercise without struggling. My diastis is ok (2 fingers). But I'm not sure which of your DVDs is right for me. Thank you for your time.

    1. Jackie, hi! Sorry for the delayed response. 3 x 3 ear infections at our house last week!

I think our Postnatal 2 Packs would be perfect for you. I think you mentioned in another post you used to be pretty fit. So your body will remember things quickly. So I would go for the advanced pack http://www.momsintofitness.com/shop/postnatal-dvd-pack-for-advanced/

Follow the diastasis recommendations until you no longer feel you are "struggling". Do you think there is anything else going on with your core/pain? Maybe a hernia? Let's rule that out first, let me know!

  39. Totally ok! Understandable. God bless you that's a lot of crankiness going on at once. I just discussed this with my husband. I don't feel like something is wrong I just feel like shaky and weak when I try to start off how I "used" to work out BC that's all I know. Like my muscles are screaming woah! Stop! Lol. I know I have to work back up to what I was used to. Is this normal? So would you still have that same recommendation? Thank you so much for your time!
