Summer Days

I have been MIA for 6 weeks, and I have no idea what to write about.   So I will tell you about my summer!

Swim Team and eating out
That's what June was all about
Laundry, dishes, TV days
It was nice to get out of a routine craze

Spent 2 weeks on vacation in the sun
Gosh this summer has been fun
Loved laying out on the beach
With sunscreen and Pringles in my reach

For 2 weeks now we have been back
And my workout schedule needed a smack
Sweating through a 90 degree run
by myself, no triple stroller, is much more fun

Summer is already halfway through
I have slacked on my workouts too
Getting up at 5am I hate
But it conquers the "should I workout tonight?" debate

4th of July, where does time go?
Harper turned 2 and cries every time I tell her no
Learning time was replaced by rest time
But for summer I don't think that's a crime

School starts in 4 weeks
By then my lazy summer schedule will need its tweaks
2 mornings with all 3 at school
Time to think about #4?  Hmm...time to myself might be cool

Don't get me wrong, summer has been the best
But there are several days my kids whine about the simplicity of getting dressed

Stress is about 20% of my day
And at 8pm I am saying hooray

A hot summer run = 3 cranky kids!

  2. Hi Lindsay
I came across your website a few days ago after discovering that I have DR - I'm 13 months post pregnancy and have some serious core issues. I had lower back pain from when I was 4 months pregnant until almost 8-9 months post, and it still comes back.
I work out regularly (used to be a personal trainer) but scaled it waaaay back during my first trimester (for no real reason other than tiredness). I work out average 5X/week but my core is not budging and I still get back pain occasionally. I guess my question is which program/DVD set should I start with??
You and I actually are similarly built: I'm almost 34, 5" 1 1/2" but now 119lbs when I think I was around 110 pre-pregnancy, sorry to ramble.... but I need your help! Where to go from here??
Thanks so much for your blog and advice!

    1. Hey nicole! I have the perfect place for you to start. Go to our Free Trial of Pretty Fierce and click the free trial button http://www.momsintofitness.com/shop/pretty-fierce-weight-loss/

The Core A workout is specifically for DR. If you like it and the other workouts in the trial, you should try the full 60 day program. It's perfect for you.

  3. Hi Lindsay. I'm a mommy to 5 kiddos ages 8 to 8 months. I have worked hard to get back into shape between each pregnancy. At 7 months post-preggo with baby #5 I was very discouraged that I still had 12 lbs. to lose after working out consistently for many months. I saw your Pretty Fierce Weight Loss DVD on MamaBargains and bought it. I am 2 1/2 weeks into the workout program and I love it!!!! I love your workouts and that you help with issues like DR. I could feel and see a change in my body after just one week. For me that was exactly the motivation I needed to keep getting up early to make time to workout. And it also gives me hope that I will be fit and healthy and even wear a bikini again after giving birth to 5 kids:) Thanks so much for all you do!

  6. Hi Lindsay,

I'm a mom to a 16 month old and feel that I have DR. I had been seeing a physiotherapist to help with back pain and to develop core strength, but she was having me do crunches which I guess I shouldn't have been. Despite that it does seem that the gap has closed below my belly button, but I can still feel at least a 2 finger width gap above my belly button and my tummy still bulges. Is it possible to close part of the gap and not all of it? Do I just need to keep working to close the remainder? How would I know if this is DR and not a hernia? If it is a hernia is it possible to fix with exercise? Thanks so much for your help!

    1. Mandy I am currently using the Tupler Method to close my DR. This method has also been used to correct hernias. Google it and the tupler website should come up. My DR was nine fingerwidths initially; now it is only 3.5 and I expect it will be completely closed soon. Good luck! Your DR is not as large as mine, so I'd expect you can close it really quickly using tupler method.

    2. Mandy, hi! Yes it is absolutely possible to close the DR with exercise. Do you think you have a hernia? Only surgery can repsir hernias but usually surgery is only recommended for larger ones. I have a small hernia above my belly button, but not large enough I would need surgery. Try the DR specific core exercises for 3 weeks and test yourself again. If you see no improvement you may want to ask the doc or physiotherapist if you have a hernia.

Try the DR core workouts here for free http://www.momsintofitness.com/squeeze-customized-workout/

    3. Hi Lindsay,

Thanks so much for the reply! It's so nice that you take the time to answer all our questions! I'm just waiting on your boot camp and core DVD to arrive in my mailbox and I'm really hoping that will fix my tummy. I guess I'm unsure as to how to tell if I have just DR or a hernia or both? Are there any obvious differences? Thanks!

  7. I have been so encouraged by your blog and your site. I had a 10# 9oz baby a little over 16 months ago and this 4th of July was asked if I was expecting and was so discouraged because I am not. I had been working out, doing abdominal exercises without a lot of results in my abs. I "had" a 2 1/2 finger separation and an umbilical hernia. I bought your CFS method video which you recommend and am now down to 1 finger separation. We are hoping to have another baby, but I am so encouraged to be getting these abdominal muscles back where they are supposed to be! Thank you so much!!
